GDPR Simplified
Does it affect me?
Is it costly?
How do I stay compliant?
What do I need to do?

GDPR, which stands for the General Data Protection Regulation, is a comprehensive set of new rules that mandate how data must be managed by any company doing business in Europe. It will come into effect from 25th May 2018 and the government has confirmed that Brexit will not delay its implementation.

“We believe the new GDPR law is going to have the biggest impact on small, medium and large businesses this century.” Revd Mark James, GDPR Specialist

The basic objective of the GDPR is to enforce stronger data security and privacy rules and how businesses look after the personal data of their customers and staff.

I am a small/medium business…will it affect me?

GDPR will apply to all companies, selling to and storing personal information about citizens in Europe. It provides the general public with greater control over their personal data and assurances that their information is being securely protected.

There are huge penalties for those companies that don’t comply with GDPR, with fines of up to 4% of annual global revenue or 20 million Euros, whichever is greater.
